The rooms in this resort are located in 2 levels; ground and 1st floor with a large 100 meter corridor in the ground level. We were provided with an extra bed for our daughter and the room allotted was very comfortable.
The kids play area and a small pool are adjacent to the ground level and behind the kids area is a large banyan tree and a lawn. A clean foot path leads to the beach where there are a few sun bathing cots are available.
The staff are very friendly and a good spread of continental and Sri Lankan varieties with nice set of vegetarian options are available.
Unfortunately we could stay only for a night at this excellent beach resort.
Stayed for 2 nights September 30-October 2, 2015. Our room was slightly dated, but was large and clean. Large bathroom with very big shower. We had a kingsize bed that was very comfortable and had nice bedding. There was also a twin bed in the room.
Amenities included a small fridge, kettle with coffee/tea supplies, shampoo, soaps, room safe, cupboard for hanging clothes, rack for drying clothes.
The staff were extremely friendly with check-in and check-out, restaurant service and also the guys at the dive center. We organized a boat to take us to Pigeon Island for snorkelling and we had one of the divers come with us, who took my husband out snorkelling with the sharks! I was quite happy to stay close to shore to snorkel as there were plenty of colourful fish to see where I was!
There is a restaurant in the hotel . Meals were good (especially the dinner buffet), service was also good. Large clean refreshing pool. Outdoor bar with beach view and really cold beer (always so nice on a hot day!). Wifi only in the lobby which was a bit disappointing.
The beach is incredibly large and seems to go for miles. Fishermen pull their nets in by hand, which is great to watch. They work so hard for their catch. They also did not seem to mind having their pictures taken as they worked tirelessly pulling in their nets.
There was also driver accommodation which was a bonus.
We had looked the hotel up on our computer before arriving which had a good price, yet upon arrival they would not give us the price and wanted $40 US more! So we sat in the lobby and booked a room on-line for the cheaper price. Didn't make sense to us, but it worked for us and they didn't seem to mind.
We had fun staying at this Resort and recommend it to others.

We have stayed in Pigeon Island Beach resort for 2 days . The services at Resort is good and staff and managers are very friendly. Food is good and what I really liked his team of resort. House keeping department is excellent and very friendly. When I approached their manager for help, he helped me instantly and kept on enquiring. Definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.
Room Tip: Travellers will have best view of Pigeon Island and apart from this , traveller could enjoy serene...
My Husband and I stayed for 2 nights whilst on a 21 night tour in Sri Lanka. This hotel although restricted by its site and buildings - the impact of which had been minimised by careful landscaping, affording great views of the virtually uninhabited beach, was run by a caring team who managed to get all the things a visitor needs right - a comfortable bed, great shower, large fluffy towels, a great breakfast with coffee that was real ( first on our trip!), a reasonably priced and informative wine list ( again another first!) , and delicious evening meals. The pool was sparkling with good quality beach and pool towels. Guest sitting areas were comfortable. Free and fast WIFI - what more can a visitor want other than to stay longer.
Room Tip: Maybe for the extra money the sea facing suites have their attractions
A beautiful spot with clean, empty sandy beaches, warm, warm sea, snorkelling a short boat trip away. Clean basic rooms with good powerful showers and hot water. Comfortable beds. A delicious buffet - the Sri Lankan options are the best. Friendly helpful staff. Relaxing spa. Lovely gardens and pool. There are bugs in the tropics but didn't have any problems here - perhaps the occasional frog!
No nightlife. Barely another hotel within sight. The sort of retreat I like!
