We stayed at Haridra in December and our stay was fantastic. Through out the stay we had no complaints. The room which had an ocean view was perfect. The staff was very helpful and were able to provide us with everything we wanted. They always had a mix of Sri Lankan and western food and it was always wonderful. It was serene and calm and we would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone. One of the best hotels we've stayed at!
My wife and I have spent six nights in the resort with half board where we resided in a very spacious two floor garden suite with sea view. Both
floors included a big terrace with wooden chairs and a table and two wooden beach loungers in front of the very large and daily extensively cleaned
swimming pool and a big balcony with wooden chairs and a table too. The bathroom on the 1st floor was well equipped with a free standing big bathtub.
Both the living room and the sleeping room have been stylish equipped with wooden furniture and separate individual air conditions.
The suites could need some more decoration for my personal opinion - even when it is not state of the art nowadays.
The aircons were running 24 hours a day due to hot temperatures outside and due to the fact of poor isolation of windows (just one window pane - in
our home country Austria a minimum of two panes is standard) and walls. So an additional fan in the sleeping room would be nice…
The service from waiters, barmen, pool boys, cleaners and managers has been excellent - no doubt. Even the General Manager of the hotel contacted us
and offered his service if needed. As there have been very few guests we had all the discreet attention we could get - and we have been pampered like
never before. E.g. on one evening when we had returned to our room the bathtub has been filled with water, decorated with blossoms and burning
swimming candles - overwhelming indeed. Not to talk about the animals and flowers formed by the cleaners with towels on the big and comfortable bed
which have enjoyed us almost every evening.
Another positive aspect when very few hotel guests are there: breakfast and dinner have been served five times - the sixth night the hotel has been
crowded: a group of female Sri Lankan guests had some class reunion celebration there and caused the staff to prepare buffets. But anyway the meals
have been prepared excellent and fresh and very tasty and have been served by a very motivated waiter crew - one of them even had an impressive
German language knowledge which he trained together with us regularly.
Drinks from the minibar, in the bar and the restaurant were affordable: softdrinks 200,- Rupees, Beer 400,-, Cocktails from around 500,- etc.
We had some interruptions registered when using the WLAN and we found out that some of the channels on the big flat screen TVs in our room and in the
bar had no connectivity. So e.g. we had to go to the fitness center to watch the soccer world championship in Brasil. Concerning the fitness center I
would like to say that a new and bright friendly painting would help to enhance the acceptance.
There is also a small and nice wellness center where the Sauna has been out of order - we did not ask for the reason.
In general we have been very impressed and satisfied about the high quality and service standards in the hotel, it's worth its rates and can
recommend it with quiet conscience.
We hope we will have another stay in the hotel some day and wish all the best to the staff and the management.
Room Tip: Garden Suites are very spacious and some of them have the pool and the sea directly in front of the...

As written in previous reviews something has happened at this hotel for it to drop its standards so significantly, because the hotel we stayed at did
not deserve its awards.
The managerial staff were aware of the hotel problems, so they would often assume the responsibilities of bar staff or table staff, to compensate for
the poor service and flaws in the hotel.
We asked for a beer, and were informed there was no alcohol on offer in the hotel bar, only in the minibar. Then the hotel offered to go and buy beer
from an outside store and keep it their fridge for us.
There was no buffet breakfast on the first morning, only off the menu. The speciality restaurant was closed, so we took the advice from a previous TA
review and found the local neighbourhood guide and we went out on the street to eat a tasty seafood dinner.
The next day a large group arrived for a two day meeting in the hotel, and with this a breakfast buffet and an evening buffet were provided for the
It is regrettable when a hotel with so much potential just collapses into a state of mediocrity, with such a fabulous location in front of the ocean,
and a generous room size, we had the garden suite which offers direct access to the pool, and sleeping on the first floor with an ocean view from the
The only positive experience from this visit was the swim in the ocean, and that my wife joked as if I had paid for the whole hotel just for us over
the valentine weekend, as the first day / night we saw no other guests.
